I thought this technique would be very fussy and unforgiving, but it actually wasn’t because there were very good tips for lining up all the various text stamps. I dug through a lot of stamps and found some unloved (virgin) sentiments that really deserved some love.
Next up is my absolute favorite card from the first day.
I tried a more rustic color scheme for the next card and ended up with a more masculine card. I made one major tweak to this one. Instead of using embossing paste, I used an embossing folder. My embossing folders have been very lonely. I dressed this up with some Distress Inks.
I started the Day 1 assignments four days after class began. I thought I could catch up, but the cards have had so many new ideas that I am spending a lot of time exploring variations.
Ok, I’ll be the first to tell you that I wasn’t really thrilled with the results of this one, but it was a warm up exercise after being away from my studio for nearly a month. It gets better.
Having lived in the Southwest for over 10 years, the Papel Picado set by WPlus9 was a must have. I added in some Lawn Fawn Hello Sunshine paper and the sentiment for the Life is Good collection. There are some other ideas percolating for this stamp and die set!
I created this using the September Simon Says Stamp Kit Life is a Storybook. The vintage feel of the papers in this kit went well with the Kraft paper.
I saw this design on a You Tube video by Dawn Griffith. It was the perfect excuse to pull out some Stampin’ Up papers. The round sentiment is from Avery Elle’s All Squared Up collection.
The red paper had an Asian feel, so adding some foiled origami paper and the paper crane and a sentiment from the Reverse Confetti Paper Crane set was a natural conclusion. The monthly sketch over at Reverse Confetti worked beautifully for this card.
I am so sad that the Jillibean Card Kitchen Kit club is ending. It has been a favorite of mine. The last kit featured the Jillibean Cool as a Cucumber collection. The bold colors and geometrics were pleasing.
I just acquired the new Jillibean Witches Brew collection from A Cherry On Top, it has an amusing black cat theme with many Halloween motifs. The link will also show you Jillibean’s Owloween collection. If Owls are your thing, you’ll love it.
